The Jordanian military launched heavy airstrikes on the positions of “terrorist organizations” in Syria in immediate retaliation for a brutal attack on a Christian church last week.

The airstrikes took place only hours after Jordanian security authorities solved the case and arrested three suspects accused of carrying out the killings. Jordanian fighter jets destroyed several terrorist positions and killed or wounded a number of members of armed groups linked to those responsible for the church attack.
Gunmen opened fire at a Christian church in Jordan’s Karak Governorate last Friday, killing nine people. Following the tragedy, Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan ordered three days of national mourning, with flags flown at half-mast at all state institutions, and announced firm retaliation.
