According to the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, construction of the Reservoir No. 2 dam development project was approximately 40% complete as of late November 2025. With a projected storage capacity of about 860 million cubic metres and irrigation coverage exceeding 260,000 hectares, it is set to become Cambodia's largest reservoir when completed at the end of December 2027. Construction began in January 2025 on Pramoy River in Rokat commune, Phnom Kravanh district, Pursat province.
Reservoir No. 2 is expected to provide several major benefits. First, it can store 860 million cubic metres of water and irrigate 262,500 hectares, ensuring adequate water and expanding agricultural coverage in both the dry and rainy seasons. Second, it will reduce flooding downstream in Pursat province, where floods have repeatedly caused disasters. Third, it will help prevent flood damage to irrigation systems and other infrastructure. Fourth, it will become a promising nature tourism destination.
