Cambodia’s water resources and meteorology ministry warned of Storm Koto’s effects on the northeast monsoon and Cambodia from November 26 to 30.

Cambodia's Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has issued a notice on Storm No. 27, Koto, which developed from low pressure over the western Pacific and the South China Sea. It is influencing the strong northeast monsoon over the Mekong basin, Cambodian waters, the Andaman Sea and Cambodia as a whole.
The ministry said Cambodia was expected to experience an impact of approximately 30% from the storm between November 26 and 30, 2025, bringing weather changes to different areas.
From November 27 to December 5, 2025, regional weather conditions were forecast as follows:
1. Lowlands: Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pursat, Kampong Chhnang, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Tboung Khmum, Prey Veng, Kandal, Takeo and Svay Rieng provinces, and Phnom Penh, could see rain, strong winds and gusts covering 15% of the area.
2. Highlands: Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri and Mondulkiri provinces, and the Dangrek and Cardamom mountain ranges, would see rain, strong winds and gusts covering 20% of the area.
3. Coastal areas: Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot and Kep provinces, and the Bokor mountain area, could see rainfall increase to a moderate level, with strong winds and gusts affecting approximately 10%. Sea waves could reach 0.50 to 2.50 metres.
The ministry advised the public to exercise heightened caution, particularly people travelling by land or water and marine fishers during the storm's influence.
The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology will continue monitoring and analysing weather conditions and issue further notices if changes occur. The public is asked to take note.
