At a November 27 meeting with Khuon Sudary, the Xizang delegation discussed investment, tourism, legislative cooperation and bilateral friendship.

Leaders of the People’s Congress of China’s Xizang Autonomous Region pledged to encourage more investors and tourists from Xizang to visit Cambodia during a working meeting with Cambodian National Assembly President Khuon Sudary on the morning of November 27, 2025.
Jiancan, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Xizang People’s Congress, said Xizang was firmly committed to promoting economic and tourism relations with Cambodia and hoped to bring it more new revenue.
Khuon Sudary thanked the delegation for its commitment and noted that 2025 had been designated Cambodia–China Tourism Year. She said tourism was a key pillar of Cambodia’s economy and a strong government development priority. Cambodia has thousands of temples and promising natural and historical attractions, comparable to Xizang, known for developing nature-based tourism.
She warmly welcomed the visit, saying it was important for building and strengthening ironclad friendship, renewing cooperation and building a Cambodia–China community with a shared future in the new era. She said the countries’ longstanding traditional friendship was founded on sincerity, trust and mutual understanding.
She reaffirmed Cambodia’s firm adherence to the one-China policy. She said relations between the two countries’ legislative institutions had reached a new level following cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between their parliamentary secretariats on September 23, 2024. Those documents provided a basis for joint work by leaders, specialised committees and secretariat officials from both countries.
Under the agreements, she had led Cambodian parliamentary delegations to China twice, while senior Chinese officials had visited Cambodia in succession. The Cambodian National Assembly had also welcomed Chinese national and provincial delegations.
The two legislative institutions continued positive momentum and cooperation, particularly through bilateral frameworks and interparliamentary forums, for the shared benefit of both peoples.
Jiancan thanked Khuon Sudary and the Cambodian National Assembly for the warm reception and praised Cambodia’s rapid development and economic, cultural and tourism potential.
He briefed her on Xizang’s strong development under President Xi Jinping, saying it had progressed across all sectors, become a popular nature-tourism region and used 100% clean electricity. To strengthen people-to-people ties, Jiancan invited Khuon Sudary to lead a senior parliamentary delegation to Xizang at a suitable time.
Khuon Sudary thanked China for its continuing support for Cambodia’s development, including the Funan Techo Canal, described as an influential and historic strategic water project. She also thanked China for its clear position on the Cambodia–Thailand border issue, which she said aligned with Cambodia’s peaceful policy of resolving issues through peaceful means under the UN Charter, ASEAN Charter and bilateral mechanisms. She said Cambodia would always maintain that position, remaining calm but not inactive.
