Joint law-enforcement forces detained 19 foreign suspects, including 16 Bangladeshi nationals and three Nepalese nationals, in connection with online scams on December 1, 2025.
The operation was conducted by the Siem Reap Provincial Unified Administrative Command Committee, with procedural coordination from a representative of the prosecution attached to the Siem Reap Provincial Court of First Instance. Officers inspected and searched a rented villa in Sala Kamreuk village, Sala Kamreuk sangkat, Siem Reap city and province, on suspicion that online scams were being carried out covertly there.
Officers detained the 19 foreign suspects on the basis of an investigation report into the fraud. The group had been staying in Siem Reap province for only about two weeks and was allegedly preparing online scams targeting other countries under the guise of contacting customers about investing in shares.
After detaining the suspects, officers seized eight computers as evidence, comprising seven desktop computers and one laptop, along with 35 mobile phones. Specialist authorities are cooperating with relevant parties to continue the investigation, identify the organizers of the online scams and take legal action against them. The suspects have been handed over to the Siem Reap Provincial Police for legal procedures, while the premises have been temporarily closed.
Under the campaign to eradicate online scams, joint law-enforcement forces nationwide will take the strictest legal measures against all organizers involved in such fraud, without exception. By: ង៉ែត ពិសាន្ត
