Malaysian police raided an alleged high-return forex investment scam operation and arrested 10 Chinese suspects aged 21 to 35.

Police in Malaysia's Selangor state recently raided premises in the Sepang area and uncovered a group allegedly running cross-border fraud under the guise of high-return foreign-exchange investments. Ten Chinese suspects aged 21 to 35 were arrested at the scene. Police seized mobile phones, laptops, desktop computers and networking equipment worth about RM40,000, which they preliminarily identified as tools used in the scam.
Investigators said the group had been promoting purported high-return forex investment schemes on social media since October this year. It lured victims in China into groups, repeatedly manipulated them with promises such as guaranteed profits without losses, and directed them to transfer funds to fake investment platforms. Victims realised they had been scammed when they could not withdraw their money. Although the suspects had entered Malaysia legally, they reportedly began their scam activities immediately after arrival, receiving monthly salaries of RM1,500 to RM2,000 as well as commissions from the proceeds.
Police said the residence rented for about RM5,300 a month provided a base for the suspects' operations. No local victims had been identified at the time of the report. All ten suspects were remanded for seven days to assist further investigations. Police said efforts against cross-border scams would continue and urged the public to stay alert and avoid trusting social-media promotions promising high investment returns.
