Cambodian police recently arrested an Indonesian woman in Preah Sihanouk province who was internationally wanted under an INTERPOL Red Notice on suspicion of human trafficking and drug offences. She was subsequently handed over to the Indonesian police for escort back to her home country in accordance with legal procedures. According to a notice from the Intelligence Department of Cambodia's General Commissariat of National Police, ASTUTIK DEWI, a 42-year-old Indonesian woman, was detained at a hotel in Sihanoukville on the afternoon of December 1. She had been sought under an INTERPOL Red Notice since March 12 this year in connection with human-trafficking and drug cases. The day after her arrest, December 2, Cambodia handed her over to the Indonesian police in accordance with legal procedures, and she was escorted home from Phnom Penh International Airport. Law-enforcement authorities described the operation as an important part of Cambodia's cooperation in international law enforcement and the fight against transnational crime. Police added that a Pakistani man was also arrested and a white car seized during the operation. Cambodia said it would continue working closely with international organisations to crack down on cross-border human-trafficking and drug networks, protect regional security and maintain the deterrent effect of the law.
