Cambodia’s tourism minister expected support measures to boost Chinese arrivals. The source reports a decision to trial visa-free entry allowing Chinese nationals to stay for 14 days, from June 15 to October 15, 2026.

Tourism Minister Hout Hak expressed high expectations that Chinese visitor numbers would increase following the Cambodian government’s strategies to support tourism. He made the remarks while attending the opening of the Cambodia–China International Tourism Music Festival in Siem Reap province on the evening of December 5, 2025, celebrating China Tourism Year 2025.
The tourism minister said Cambodia’s seventh-mandate government continued to regard tourism as a priority sector and an economic pillar contributing to socioeconomic development. It was promoting cultural and nature tourism alongside green, clean and smart tourism, encouraging new high-value tourism products and business tourism, and strengthening the implementation, preparation and introduction of tourism development policies and master plans.
During the first 10 months of 2025, Cambodia received approximately 4.8 million international visitors, including about 1 million from China. In 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, Cambodia had received around 2.3 million Chinese visitors, representing roughly one-third of all international arrivals.
The minister added that the future of Cambodian tourism was inseparable from attracting growing flows of Chinese visitors and investors. Cambodia was fully prepared to welcome their return by improving the hospitality environment for Chinese tourists and investors.
In this spirit, through close cooperation between the Tourism Ministry and the Chinese embassy in Cambodia, and with approval in principle from Cambodia’s head of government, a decision was made on December 2, 2025, to grant a visa exemption allowing Chinese nationals traveling to Cambodia to stay for 14 days. The initial four-month trial would run from June 15 to October 15, 2026, during Cambodia’s green season. Edited by: ចិន្តា ទីទិ
