Cambodia’s defence ministry said Thai forces fired what it described as toxic smoke into the Preah Vihear Temple area at 9:31 a.m. on December 21. It said Cambodian forces continued monitoring and defending their positions, with further details to follow.

Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence informed the public of the Cambodia–Thailand border situation, saying Thai forces had continued attacks on Cambodian territory in Military Region 4, in the Preah Vihear Temple area of Preah Vihear province. The ministry said that at 9:31 a.m. on December 21, 2025, Thai forces fired toxic smoke into Cambodia’s Preah Vihear Temple area.
In response, the ministry said Cambodian armed forces were closely monitoring the situation and firmly, actively and resolutely holding their defensive positions. It said Cambodian forces continued fighting tenaciously against all forms of aggression, remaining highly vigilant in their duties to defend the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and dignity with courage and unwavering determination, whatever the cost.
Further details would be reported to the public later, the ministry said.
