Fishers in Koh Chen commune, Ponhea Lueu district, Kandal, report a marked rise in this year’s catches and income, attributing it to strict fisheries-law enforcement. They asked authorities to continue enforcement for abundant and sustainable resources.

This year’s fish catches have risen noticeably, bringing joy to fishers in Koh Chen commune, Ponhea Lueu district, Kandal province. They said strict and highly effective enforcement of fisheries law by the relevant authorities and specialist officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries had increased fish resources and provided work opportunities, enabling them to earn more to support their families.
The fishers expressed deep gratitude to the agriculture ministry for firmly enforcing fisheries law and thereby increasing catches. They also asked the relevant authorities and the ministry to continue stricter enforcement to ensure that Cambodia’s fisheries resources become more abundant and sustainable.
