Mondulkiri’s tourism department reported 12,434 visitors, including 194 foreigners, over the three-day 2026 New Year holiday, down 59.92% from the previous year.

Despite tensions along the Cambodia–Thailand border, large numbers of domestic and international visitors continued to visit tourist attractions across Cambodia. During the three-day 2026 New Year holiday, Mondulkiri province welcomed 12,434 domestic and international visitors, including 194 foreigners.
Visitor numbers over the three days fell by 59.92% compared with the 2025 New Year holiday, when the province received 31,030 visitors, including 261 foreigners, according to a report issued by Mondulkiri’s tourism department on January 3, 2026.
The tourism department said: “The decline in visitor numbers is due to Thailand’s war of aggression against our country, which caused many tourists to cancel their trips to Mondulkiri province.”
