The ministry denied Thai media claims of a casino arms depot on January 6, saying the site was the Road 56 land border police checkpoint within Cambodian sovereignty.

On January 6, Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior clarified and rejected claims by some Thai media outlets that “Thai naval troops found and confiscated a Cambodian arms depot inside a casino”. The ministry said the reports were seriously inaccurate, inconsistent with the actual situation and misleading to the public.
The ministry said the location was not a casino at all, but the Road 56 land border police checkpoint within Cambodian sovereign territory, a lawful law-enforcement facility. It urged the parties concerned to stop spreading false information to avoid misunderstandings and unnecessary tension.
