Spokesperson Sum Map says initial measures involve education and pledges to stop, with further legal action considered if conduct continues.

A Culture and Fine Arts Ministry spokesperson warned on March 17 that continued inappropriate performances at weddings could lead to legal measures. The warning followed social-media criticism of gestures and a performer wearing diapers during a wedding hair-cutting ritual.
The report says this occurred despite the ministry’s appeal against language, gestures and clothing it regards as harmful to the dignity of marriage and traditional customs. Some Khmer bands were said to continue excessive comedy during wedding hair-cutting ceremonies.
Spokesperson Sum Map said the ministry would first invite those involved for education and guidance and require a commitment to stop. If they continued after guidance and signing such a commitment, stronger legal measures would be considered. He said innovations intended to create enjoyment should also respect Khmer ethics, honour and dignity.
