In an April 27, 2026, statement, the Palace Ministry said King Norodom Sihamoni’s health had slightly improved after about a week of treatment following surgery in Beijing. Doctors advised further hospital care.

Cambodia’s Ministry of the Royal Palace said in a statement issued on April 27, 2026, that King Norodom Sihamoni’s health had improved slightly after about a week of treatment at a hospital in Beijing, China.
The statement said the King had undergone major surgery and was receiving continuing care from experienced specialist doctors and nursing staff. The medical team continued to monitor his condition, providing pain relief, medication to help the surgical wound heal and other treatment as required.
Despite the improvement, doctors advised the King to remain in hospital for a further period for observation and ongoing care to support a safe recovery.
The King and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk expressed gratitude to the Supreme Patriarchs of both Buddhist orders, leaders, officials and Cambodian citizens for their continuing prayers and well wishes.
