In a 30 June 2026 message, acting head of state Hun Sen urged motorists to drive carefully and avoid driving when sleepy during the World Cup season.

During the 2026 World Cup season, Hun Sen, acting head of state, issued a reminder on 30 June 2026. He remarked that football was indeed unpredictable, as countries from South America and North Africa had sent countries from

Europe, long strong in football, home — two teams already — leaving some football bettors distraught after losses. He said people working in the morning were less active during the 2026 World Cup because they were sleepy and also watching matches, which were played from after midnight until 10 a.m.

Hun Sen urged drivers of all types of vehicles to be careful: if sleepy, do not drive and risk an accident.
