On October 22, 2026, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet officially launched the National Strategy on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development 2026–2030 to promote business development and strengthen the national economy. He said micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in creating jobs, increasing people’s incomes, promoting local economies and strengthening national economic resilience. By 2025, Cambodia’s SME Bank had provided nearly US$500 million in policy loans to more than 3,400 businesses in priority sectors including agro-processing, food production, industry and services. The Agricultural and Rural Development Bank has also continued financing agricultural value chains and agro-processing to increase domestic added value and reduce dependence on imports. To strengthen support for the sector, the government has also prepared a framework for establishing an SME coordinating unit to strengthen institutional mechanisms and promote more efficient enterprise development.
