Cambodia's Ministry of Health issued a notice on the morning of November 16, 2025, reporting that a 22-year-old man living in Phnom Penh's Chrouy Changvar district had died from H5N1 avian influenza. According to the notice, the patient developed severe symptoms including high fever, cough, extreme fatigue and breathing difficulties. His condition deteriorated rapidly, and attempts to save him were unsuccessful. The ministry said teams had been dispatched to investigate the source of infection, and all close contacts were being given Tamiflu as preventive treatment. The ministry urged vigilance and advised people who develop such symptoms after recent contact with sick or dead poultry to seek care promptly at a medical facility to reduce the risk of severe illness or transmission.
