A Chinese influencer has lost contact after travelling to Sihanoukville, Cambodia, to meet her boyfriend, raising concerns that she is missing.
The Japanese edition of South Korea's JoongAng Ilbo reported today that the Chinese influencer known by the nickname translated as “Orange Sister” travelled to Cambodia's Preah Sihanouk province earlier this month to meet her boyfriend, who runs a restaurant there.
From the 5th to the 11th, “Orange Sister” posted on social media that she was in Cambodia and had booked a flight back to China on the 13th. She lost all contact from the 12th. Her phone was switched off, and no record of her re-entering China was found. She has made no further posts, and her last login IP location was also in Cambodia.
Her family eventually reported the matter to Chinese authorities, requested a missing-person investigation and sought help from foreign authorities. Friends and acquaintances also began searching for her through social media, but there has so far been no progress.
The report said concern was heightened because, although her boyfriend claimed to operate a restaurant locally, the area is associated with online scam groups. His phone was also switched off, adding to the family's anxiety.
