ASEAN observers carrying out ceasefire checks near the Thai border in Cambodia's Pursat province on the morning of the 19th suddenly heard weapons explosions from the direction of Thailand. For safety, the team suspended its work and evacuated immediately.
At 11:08 a.m. on 19 November, coordinated by Cambodia's Ministry of National Defence, the observers visited checkpoint CH1 in Thmorda commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province, to verify and monitor implementation of the ceasefire. The area lies along a sensitive section of the Cambodia–Thailand border and has been a focus of ASEAN attention since tensions escalated.
During the checks, observers heard clear weapons explosions originating on the Thai side. The incident prompted a security risk assessment, and the team activated emergency procedures.
Cambodia's Ministry of National Defence said the observers decided to suspend checks in that area immediately and leave swiftly to ensure personnel safety. Further arrangements would depend on security conditions and ASEAN coordination.
