The Indian government launched another overseas evacuation operation this week, sending two air force transport aircraft to Mae Sot Airport in northern Thailand to bring stranded Indian citizens home. The operation was carried out with Thai government assistance and coordination between the two sides. According to an Indian official statement, the 269 people brought home included 11 women. They had previously been reported as involved in suspicious activities in Myanmar's Myawaddy area and were handed over for processing following recent clearance operations by local security forces. India subsequently activated its citizen-protection arrangements and organised their evacuation. The Indian government said it would continue communicating with neighbouring countries to protect its citizens' lawful rights and safety abroad. It urged the public to beware of illegal cross-border employment and scam traps, and to avoid becoming involved in unlawful activities in high-risk areas. Compiled by this station.
