Law enforcement agencies in Cambodia's Svay Rieng province recently carried out joint surprise raids in Bavet city, dismantling two suspected cross-border telecommunications fraud sites and detaining people linked to the case. Multiple agencies participated, seizing electronic equipment allegedly used for online scams and related identity documents. According to an official statement, the raids were coordinated by the secretariat of the committee combating online scams, alongside the General Commissariat of National Police and local forces. Two Bavet residences were searched simultaneously on the 22nd of this month. Police took in 28 foreign suspects, including women, all provisionally identified as Vietnamese nationals and suspected of involvement in telecommunications fraud. Officers found evidence at both locations, including dozens of computers, mobile phones, network devices, vehicles and numerous identity documents and passports. The premises were temporarily sealed, and all suspects were handed over to Svay Rieng police for legal procedures. Authorities said the investigation was continuing, focusing on the organisers behind the operation, with further legal measures to follow. Compiled by this station.
