Cambodia’s government is planning a visa-free entry pilot for Chinese tourists, expected to run from June 15 to October 15, 2026. The relevant approval has been signed by Prime Minister Hun Manet and released through the Office of the Council of Ministers. Tourism industry representatives have also confirmed the document’s authenticity. Under the pilot proposal, Chinese tourists would be allowed visa-free entry, entry clearance free of charge and multiple visits during this period, with a maximum stay of 14 days on each entry. Travellers would still need to complete an electronic arrival card in advance for border management and passenger registration. The government has also asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue discussions with China on future bilateral visa exemption and simpler procedures for Cambodian citizens travelling to China. Tourism authorities also plan to increase promotional spending in the Chinese market to accelerate the recovery in visitor arrivals. Official figures cited in the report show that Cambodia received about 4.8 million international visitors in the first ten months of 2025, nearly one million of them from China. Industry representatives believe that, if formally implemented, the policy would strengthen the tourism recovery in the second half of 2026, support aviation and hotels, and lay the groundwork for bilateral visa exemption.
