Sao Chivorn, a secretary of state at the Ministry of Rural Development, led an interministerial delegation from that ministry and the Ministry of Economy and Finance to inspect and evaluate routine maintenance of 15 roads totalling 98,200 metres in Kampot province. They comprise one 4,800-metre double bituminous surface treatment (DBST) road in Prey Khmum commune, Teuk Chhou district, and 14 laterite roads totalling 93,400 metres in Chum Kiri, Chhuk, Dang Tong, Teuk Chhou, Angkor Chey and Banteay Meas districts. Kampot rural development department director Hu Sorin reported that routine maintenance on the 15 roads was 100 per cent complete and had been implemented in accordance with technical standards. The director described benefits for residents, including easier travel and transport of agricultural and agro-industrial products, particularly pupils’ journeys to school and faster transport of patients to health centres. Sao Chivorn praised the provincial department’s work and urged thorough maintenance inspections to ensure road quality, appearance and safety. He called for cooperation with local authorities to encourage residents to maintain the roads, particularly by preventing overloaded transport, to preserve their quality and service life and help people recognise them as shared property.
