Cambodia’s embassy in France has called on people travelling to Cambodia to avoid transiting through Thailand and using Thai airlines. The embassy said some European travellers heading to Cambodia had encountered serious problems while transiting at Bangkok’s airport in Thailand, including questioning lasting dozens of hours, what it described as excessive demands for proof of financial resources, checks on Cambodian hotel reservations, an atmosphere of anxiety and unreasonable suspicion. The embassy also said that, in some cases, travellers found their luggage missing upon arrival in Phnom Penh. By: Chinda Titi
