On December 17, 2025, border guards in Vietnam’s Dong Nai province received 63 Vietnamese citizens deported by Cambodian authorities. According to the report, 42 had escaped from a telecom scam compound in Cambodia’s Oddar Meanchey province. They reported being forced to work without pay in appalling conditions, being unable to contact their families and being beaten for disobeying orders. By Pai Sokhim
