Thailand’s military posted a video on its official Facebook page on the evening of December 16, saying the Second Army Region had conducted an operation along the border and used tanks to strike a casino complex. The report said the footage showed fire breaking out after the target was hit and rapidly engulfing the buildings. Thailand characterised the operation as a raid against facilities linked to telecom scams.
Thai authorities said the casino complex was near Chong Sai Taku pass in Buriram province and had long been accused of use for drone attacks and as an important base for scam call centres, leading it to be designated a priority target.
