This morning, Thai forces deployed F-16 fighter aircraft for airstrikes on Cambodia’s Poipet city and used heavy weapons for indiscriminate shelling of several civilian residential areas and civilian infrastructure in the city.
Thailand had already shelled Poipet the previous day, prompting large numbers of people to evacuate urgently and causing traffic congestion on some roads for a time. However, many traders continued operating at the local night market that night, and market activity had not stopped completely.
