Kiran Kumar Reddy Churukanti, president of the Cambodia–India Business Association, has urged Cambodian and Indian citizens to establish an India–Cambodia fund to build a large new Vishnu statue on Cambodian territory. The report says Thai troops had previously demolished a Vishnu statue in the An Ses area. The proposed fund and new statue are intended to serve as a symbol of heritage and attract more Indian visitors to Cambodia. In a Facebook post on December 31, 2025, he said Cambodians preserve the precious heritage of Angkor Wat, a globally admired symbol of Khmer civilization. Vishnu, part of Cambodia's history, has also had a presence at Angkor Wat for centuries. With Cambodia's tourism sector developing and direct flights linking Cambodia and India, he proposed that citizens of both countries rebuild the statue. He also expressed hope that India and Cambodia would grow stronger together in culture, trade, business and economic cooperation. By: Nget Pisant
