After issuing guidance on measures to ease the burden on people affected by the Cambodia–Thailand border conflict, the National Bank of Cambodia observed a growing number of loan-repayment exemption applications from military and displaced customers. The rise was causing delays in banks’ and financial institutions’ coordination of those requests. To encourage front-line soldiers performing combat-zone duties to defend territorial integrity, the bank asked displaced people for their understanding as soldiers’ requests were given priority for coordination, according to its January 1, 2026 notice. Front-line soldiers who had already applied for exemptions but had not received a response from their bank or financial institution were asked to contact the National Bank of Cambodia.
