Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol said in an interview with US media on January 8 that the authorities had decided to extradite Chen Zhi to China. He said the action was a lawful decision based on sufficient evidence, but did not elaborate on why China rather than the United States had been chosen as the destination. Sun Chanthol stressed that Cambodia could not afford to choose sides in international affairs and that all decisions were guided by its national interests. He said: “We are not walking a tightrope between China and the United States. We follow Cambodia’s path, putting Cambodia’s interests first in everything.” Compiled by this station.
