Tensions rose again along the Myanmar–Thailand border as Myanmar government troops recently fought fiercely with the Karen National Union around Min Lapan village, opposite border villages in Mae Sot district of Thailand’s Tak province.
Myanmar’s army deployed the 22nd Infantry Division and several types of drones, including reconnaissance, bombing and ‘suicide’ drones, for intensive strikes on fortified positions only about one kilometre from the border.
Although Myanmar’s official media had not reported the fighting, stray rounds from the clashes crossed into Thailand and damaged a border resident’s house. No Thai civilian casualties had been reported at the time.
