The Philippines holds the ASEAN chairmanship in 2026. The opening ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat is scheduled for January 28–29, 2026, on Cebu island.
Club of Cambodian Journalists President Puy Kea said expected hot topics included the Cambodia–Thailand border dispute, the latest developments in Myanmar, world order, geopolitics and preparations for the coming summit in May.
While monitoring the meeting in the Philippines, Puy Kea was waiting to see how far Philippine leaders would match their Malaysian counterparts’ efforts to help mediate the Cambodia–Thailand dispute. Would the Philippines remain in the middle or lean towards one side?
