Eighty-three journalists from 53 organisations learned how to provide immediate first aid to injured or ill people, with particular attention to reporters covering dangerous areas. Specialist medical teams from the Ministry of Health gave practical demonstrations.
The course was held on February 5 at the Business Development Centre building. The Club of Cambodian Journalists organised it in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the Cambodia–China Youth Friendship House to improve reporters' knowledge of first aid before injured or ill people are sent to hospital.
Puy Kea, president of the Club of Cambodian Journalists, said it was no small matter when someone suffered an accident or sudden illness and urgently needed immediate first aid before further hospital treatment. Training journalists in first aid was therefore important, because they could frequently encounter situations requiring it, including road accidents that could put victims' lives at risk.
