To maintain security, safety and public order during Chinese and Vietnamese New Year on February 16–19, Preah Sihanouk’s provincial administration issued a February 13 notice prohibiting firecrackers, fireworks and all items producing explosive sounds at residences, hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, casinos, factories, enterprises, resorts and beaches. The administration urged precautions against fires involving candles, incense, joss paper, stoves and electricity. Joss paper must be burned in a metal container or earthen pot, and burning it on pavements or public roads is strictly prohibited. People should travel carefully; driving after drinking is prohibited, and road traffic law must be strictly observed. By: Nget Pisant.
