French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot reiterated that France would facilitate Cambodian and Thai access to archives in its possession concerning border delimitation. He renewed this commitment during his February 25 meeting with Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, who was visiting Europe and the United Nations. Barrot reaffirmed France’s commitment to regional stability and stressed full implementation of the December 27, 2025 ceasefire agreement, which the report described as remaining in force at the time. He said political dialogue between Cambodia and Thailand should continue to secure a peaceful, lasting resolution of the border dispute in accordance with international law and their bilateral commitments. The French minister added: “France supports ASEAN’s efforts in this regard and is in contact with both partners with complete impartiality. We reiterate our willingness to facilitate both parties’ access to archives in our possession related to border delimitation.” The report noted that France had also recently expressed its readiness to provide archives to Cambodia or Thailand in support of efforts to resolve the border dispute peacefully.
