Cambodia’s General Department of Immigration carried out large-scale deportation operations on March 5 and 6, removing 1,121 foreign nationals, including 67 women, over the two days under the law. The official report said those deported came from 15 countries, including China, Japan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Congo, India and Malaysia. Chinese nationals formed the largest group, at 628, and departed through Techo International Airport and Siem Reap Angkor International Airport. Authorities said the removals mainly involved issues including illegal entry, residence without passports, online fraud, false visas and illegal work. The operation formed part of the government’s scam crackdown, targeting criminal networks while also rescuing some victims lured into them and returning those victims home.
