Sihanoukville raids four suspected scam sites and detains 50 people

March 23: Preah Sihanouk’s joint enforcement task force reported screening 26 suspected residential gathering locations and raiding 4 suspected online scam sites, where 50 suspects were detained.
According to the report, the 4 locations were a hotel, a villa compound, an apartment building and a rental property in Sangkat 4. The 50 suspects were of several nationalities, including 36 Chinese, 3 Cambodians, 5 Indians, 3 Bangladeshis, 2 Pakistanis and 1 Myanmar national. Equipment suspected of use in the offences was seized, including desktop computers, mobile phones and laptops.
In addition, officers inspected Golden City casino in Sihanoukville and found equipment suspected of use in online scams, including 186 desktop computers and 154 mobile phones. The people and evidence have been handed to police for further investigation, including efforts to identify organisers behind the operations.
