Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence said on March 24 that Thai media reports claiming Cambodia was preparing for a third armed conflict were incorrect, baseless and inconsistent with the situation on the ground. Ministry spokesperson Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata rejected the allegations, which the reports attributed to Thai intelligence sources. She said the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces remain committed to the Joint Statement of the third Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting of December 27, 2025, and the Joint Declaration on Peace signed on October 26, 2025. Under the government’s directives, Cambodia continues to maintain peace and avoid escalation, she said. Its position is to resolve border issues through dialogue and peaceful means, in accordance with international law and existing bilateral treaties and agreements.
