In response to rising oil prices, Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior issued guidance on March 24, 2026, allowing heads of its units and subnational administrations to rotate staff, maintain the minimum necessary presence at the office and arrange some work online from home.
The arrangement is intended to save fuel, electricity and other expenditure amid global cost pressures.
The National Police, General Department of Prisons, General Department of Administration and other essential units are exempt.
An unnamed analyst quoted in the report described the arrangement as a flexible way to keep state institutions functioning while controlling costs. Written by Lay Kol.
