On the morning of March 27, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn led ambassadors, diplomatic representatives and representatives of major international organisations in Cambodia to Veal Veng district, Pursat, to visit and directly examine the living conditions of people displaced from Thmar Da commune.
Cambodia says these residents were displaced after the December 27, 2025 ceasefire agreement, following Thai forces’ installation of barbed wire and containers in territory claimed by Cambodia. The Cambodian account describes those actions as unlawful violations of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Cambodian government has repeatedly submitted protests through the Foreign Ministry and reaffirmed that it will not recognise changes to the border through force. Writer: Pai Sokhim.
