On March 27, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn led diplomats and representatives of UN agencies and international organisations accredited to Cambodia to inspect the Thmar Da area in Veal Veng, Pursat. Cambodia describes the area as illegally occupied by Thai forces, which it says continued installing containers and barbed wire. Cambodia says that, as a neighbour and ASEAN member, it is ready to continue discussions through existing mechanisms to resolve disputes under international law. It presents the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC), General Border Committee (GBC) and Regional Border Committee (RBC) as channels for shared peace and prosperity. Cambodia says the December 27, 2025 Joint Statement identifies the JBC as a key mechanism for demarcating the Cambodia–Thailand boundary. It expresses readiness to resume boundary surveys immediately under relevant legal documents to safeguard peace and prevent future conflict. Writer: Lay Kol.
