A Commerce Ministry notice set regular petrol at 5,000 riel per litre and diesel at 7,200 riel per litre from March 29, 2026. The reported government measures include maintaining a 6.5-US-cent discount per litre to ease living costs; an additional one-cent discount because international petrol prices exceeded US$90 per barrel and diesel exceeded US$100; and zero customs duty. In response to continuing international price increases, the Prime Minister also decided to reduce the additional tax on petrol and diesel to zero, reduce the special tax on diesel from 4% to 0%, and reduce VAT on petrol and diesel from 10% to 4%, with the government covering the remaining six percentage points. The notice therefore sets regular petrol at 5,000 riel per litre and diesel at 7,200 riel per litre from March 29, 2026, until further notice. Writer: Pai Sokhim.
