According to contemporaneous reports, Phnom Penh’s joint enforcement team inspected the “85 SOHO” hotel and an apartment building referred to as “AIC” in the original article, in Chaom Chao 1, Por Sen Chey district, on the afternoon of May 14, 2026. The reports said 61 people were held for inquiries into possible involvement in online scams, identity-document issues or drug use. Reported seized equipment included 468 mobile phones, 48 laptops and foreign SIM cards. Among the 61 people, the reports listed 42 who could not produce passports, 15 suspected of online scams and four suspected of drug use. Failure to produce a passport does not, on this report alone, establish unlawful residence. The people and evidence were referred to Phnom Penh police for further investigation.
