According to a notice from the Thma Bang district administration cited in the 28 June report, the “ពិធីបុណ្យពូនភ្នំទុរេនសាមគ្គី” durian celebration was planned to begin at 3:00 p.m. on 11 July, with concluding ceremonies on 12 July 2026, at Wat សិលាមុន្នីគីរីវង្ស (Wat ថ្មបាំងលើ), in ត្រពាំងឈើត្រាវ village, ឫស្សីជ្រុំ commune, Thma Bang district, Koh Kong. It aimed to celebrate the abundant durian harvest, promote local agricultural products and attract tourists. The administration said the event would raise the durian’s profile and give farmers and traders opportunities to display and sell their products, attract domestic and international visitors to taste Thma Bang durian, and introduce the district’s tourism and agricultural potential. Donors were also contributing fruit to form a mountain-shaped display, prepare durian sticky rice, offer tastings after the programme and provide support to frontline troops. The district administration expressed hope that the public and farmers would attend and support the celebration in large numbers. By: ង៉ែត ពិសាន្ត
