Tourism Minister Huot Hak visits Siem Reap ceramic workshop to strengthen links with tourism

Tourism Minister Huot Hak recently visited a ceramic workshop in Siem Reap province to learn about its production processes, design and product development, as well as its potential to create tourism products and souvenirs with a distinct Khmer identity, according to a Ministry of Tourism Facebook post dated August 5, 2026. During the visit, the minister encouraged business owners, artisans and local producers to improve product quality, bring greater creativity to their designs and develop new products that meet tourism market needs and trends while preserving Khmer identity, culture and artistic craftsmanship. He also encouraged creative tourism experiences that would allow visitors to watch ceramic production, learn about traditional craft skills and try making or decorating ceramics themselves. Such activities could become new tourism products and broaden the range of visitor experiences in Siem Reap. The visit reflected an emphasis on diversifying tourism products and increasing their added value, while making products made in Cambodia an important part of visitors' travel experiences and contributing to a higher-quality, more resilient and sustainable tourism sector.
