On October 16, 2026, H.E. Kun Kim, Senior Minister and First Vice President of the National Committee for Disaster Management, led a meeting to review and assess the impact on agricultural crops caused by flooding in Oddar Meanchey province.
According to a preliminary report as of October 15, 2026, five cities/districts in Oddar Meanchey province were affected and damaged by flooding, equivalent to 23 communes/sangkats and 136 villages. Of these, 3,804 hectares of rice crops were affected, involving 2,913 families, along with damage to infrastructure such as bridges, roads, schools, hospitals and pagodas.
At the same time, H.E. This assessment is important for gathering information to inform decision-making, setting priorities for assistance, and requesting necessary resources through the Cambodia Food Reserve System mechanism, in order to respond to the needs of affected residents.
On the occasion, His Excellency the Senior Minister also recalled measures to assist farmers with rice and to prepare water reserves for preventing upcoming drought caused by El Niño effects, as well as to maintain readiness to intervene in helping farmers on an ongoing basis. By: ស្រីពី
