Cambodia and Laos held a tourism networking event in Stung Treng province on October 21, 2026, promoting cooperation between public agencies and private businesses while marking 70 years of diplomatic relations. Cambodian Tourism Minister Huot Hak and the Lao Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism co-chaired the event, attended by about 200 government and business representatives.

Huot Hak said cross-border tourism requires simpler travel procedures, clear entry information, better transport connections and higher service standards to make journeys more convenient, safe and reliable.
Both sides hope cooperation among government agencies, local authorities and tourism businesses will resolve practical cross-border travel issues, increase visitor exchanges and connect individual attractions so travellers can experience the cultures and scenery of both countries in one trip.

The event also discussed joint tourism packages linking Cambodia with southern Laos, particularly Stung Treng and Champasak provinces. Potential itineraries could combine historical sites such as Cambodia's Angkor Wat and Laos's Vat Phou with Mekong landscapes and community-based tourism.

The two sides also called for joint promotion, business networking and tourism investment cooperation to develop more attractive and sustainable products, increase visitor numbers and create opportunities for tourism businesses, trade and local communities.
