According to Phnom Penh police, officers raided two rooms in an apartment building in Sen Sok district at midday on October 24, finding five foreign women and a quantity of medicines, syringes and medical supplies.

Police said a 51-year-old Chinese woman named Liu Wei is suspected of arranging and caring for four Vietnamese women involved in surrogacy activities. The case may involve illegal recruitment, exploitation and surrogacy brokerage. Police are continuing their investigation and examining the seized items.

So far, police have not disclosed the identities or nationalities of the commissioning clients, nor have they said whether the four Vietnamese women are pregnant or how the case will be handled. The allegations remain subject to investigation.
