Malaysia’s national news agency Bernama reported on October 29, 2026 that the Immigration Department and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission carried out a joint operation, raiding four condominium units in Jalan Kerinchi, Kuala Lumpur, and two detached bungalows in The Mines. They arrested 64 foreigners to investigate their suspected involvement in online scams.
Citing the Immigration director-general, Bernama reported that those arrested included 44 Chinese nationals, 19 Vietnamese nationals and one Myanmar national. Enforcement officers seized 28 laptops, 81 mobile phones and other communications equipment. According to Bernama’s account, the total value of the seized items was estimated at approximately RM51,300. Officers also found three passports from Japan, South Korea and the United States with no holder information printed on them, along with flight tickets to those countries. Whether the documents involved forgery or other unlawful activity remains under investigation.
According to the report, preliminary investigations indicated that the group was suspected of having operated for about two months, mainly using digital platforms to defraud people by offering non-existent services. Its illicit profits were estimated at approximately RM6 million, with alleged daily profits of around RM100,000 to RM150,000. These amounts and the methods used remain subject to further verification.
According to the report, those arrested were under investigation for suspected violations of relevant provisions of Malaysia’s Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963.
