Six J-10 display aircraft from China’s Bayi Aerobatic Team made four low-altitude passes over the Huangyaguan Great Wall in Tianjin on November 6, trailing red, yellow and blue smoke to mark the air force’s 77th anniversary.

On the morning of November 6, China’s Bayi Aerobatic Team flew six J-10 display aircraft over the Huangyaguan section of the Great Wall in Tianjin’s Jizhou District. The low-altitude, close-formation display paid tribute to the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force.

At around 11 a.m., the six J-10 aircraft made four low-altitude passes along the ridgeline above the Huangyaguan Great Wall, trailing red, yellow and blue smoke. The aircraft and the winding Great Wall shared the same view, attracting many tourists and residents who stopped to watch and take photographs.

According to reports, the complex valley terrain around the Huangyaguan Great Wall places high demands on pilots’ flying skills, formation coordination and ability to respond to unexpected situations during low-altitude flight. The display demonstrated the professionalism of Chinese air force pilots and the capabilities of the Bayi Aerobatic Team.

This was another flight by the Bayi Aerobatic Team over a world landmark, following its flight over the Egyptian pyramids in 2024. As the People’s Liberation Army Air Force marks its 77th anniversary, the jets’ flight over the ancient Great Wall brought modern air power and a landmark of Chinese history and culture into a distinctive shared scene.
